Wilmington: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday announced $7.5 million for other Quad countries in their fight against cervical cancer. The announcement came during his address at the Cancer Moonshot event in Delaware, which was held on the sidelines of the Quad Summit.
Thanking US President Joe Biden for organising the event, the Prime Minister said that it reflected the shared determination of the Quad countries to provide affordable, accessible, and quality health care for the people. Reminding the Quad leaders of the initiative taken by India during the Covid pandemic, the PM said he was glad that Quad members have jointly decided to tackle challenges like cervical cancer. He further said that collaboration among countries is essential for the treatment of cancer.
‘Prevention, screening, dialysis and integrated approach necessary’
“To control the spread of cancer, prevention, screening, dialysis, and integrated approach is necessary. In India, we have started a cervical cancer screening programme on a large scale. Apart from this, India is also running health insurance schemes at the largest scale in the world. We have also formed special centres to provide medicines at affordable prices to the people,” PM Modi said at the event.

New treatment protocol started in India: PM Modi
He added, “India has also produced a vaccine to fight cervical cancer. Apart from this, with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI), we have started a new treatment protocol in the country. India is ready to share its experience and expertise with other countries. Many experts on cancer from India have joined us in this event today. India’s vision is ‘one earth on health’. With this aim, I announce the aid of $7.5 million for sampling kits, detection kits, and vaccines under the Quad Moonshot initiative. India will also help in Radiotherapy treatment and capacity building.”
