New Delhi: In fresh trouble for Arvind Kejriwal just weeks before the Delhi elections, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has given the nod to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to prosecute the Aam Aadmi Party chief in a money laundering case linked to the excise policy.
In November last year, the Supreme Court issued an order stating that permission must be obtained from the authority before prosecuting a public servant.
The ED, probing the money laundering angle into the now defunct Delhi excise policy, 2021-22, has alleged Kejriwal as the mastermind in the scam.
In court, the ED claimed the former Delhi chief minister as the chief conspirator and kingpin in the liquor scam and also filed a chargesheet against him.
Kejriwal had then approached the Delhi High Court against the chargesheet, seeking a stay on its cognisance.
