BMW is celebrating its 30 years of operations in Mexico with a special edition of the M2. It will only be limited to just 30 units and also be available with a manual transmission. Now this is a special edition that we love and adore and can get behind. It is called the BMW M2 Coupe 30 Years Edition and here is everything you need to know about the Mexico exclusive.
Yes, this special edition will only be available in the Mexican market and you get two options for the colours. There is the Frozen Portimao Blau Metallic and Frozen Pure Grey Metallic. As suggested by the names, both the paint options are matte. The interior will get standard BMW bucket seats finished in red and black Merino leather, Alcantara trimmed steering wheel and carbon fibre trim on many of the parts of the interior. It also gets black painted wheels.
The M2 Coupe 30 Years Edition will be made in the San Luis Potosi plant in Toluca, Mexico City. Production of the E36 3-Series started right here in 1994, 30 years ago. The M2 will come with the specs of the latest generation facelift which features a 3.0L inline six turbocharged engine which produces 473 bhp and 550 Nm of torque. Power goes to just the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The special edition M2 will start from MXN 2,149,900 (around Rs 91 lakh). This is quite a lot more expensive than the regular M2 in Mexico but this special edition marks an important milestone for the brand and comes loaded with a lot of standard features which would anyway cost the same when specced out similarly.
