New Delhi: Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Tuesday slammed Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for evading a question regarding the Kolkata rape and murder incident in Raebareli and said that it showed the mentality of the INDIA alliance.
Scindia’s statement on X
Sharing a video of Rahul Gandhi on X, Scindia wrote, “The mentality of the Indian alliance and its senior leaders has stooped so low that the life of the country’s daughter is just a distraction for them. This statement of the opposition leader is extremely reprehensible and anti-women.”
“The picture of the oppression of women that has been going on for years during the tenure of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is in front of the whole country. The recent incident in Kolkata makes it clear that wherever there is a coalition government, the ‘honor, respect, and life’ of women is in danger. The public will never forgive those who sell ‘fear and violence’ in the ‘dukan of love’. Today the whole country stands with the victim’s family,” the Union Minister further wrote.
Apart from Scindia his comments also drew criticism from another BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla. Taking to X, he too wrote, “Is Nyay for Beti a distraction? Those who speak about Sanvidhan, about Ladki hoon lad sakti hoon & visit victims homes in UP call a grave injustice “distraction” because it happened in Bengal This is an insult of the victim & all women.”
What Rahul Gandhi said
