New Delhi: Kinnar Jagatguru Himangi Sakhi has alleged that Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi, Acharya Mahamandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhada, and her goons beat her up, while claiming that she sustained multiple injuries due to the assault. Sakhi said she was targeted as she had opposed former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni’s appointment as Mahamandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhara.
“Money is being taken to make someone a Mahamandaleshwar,” Sakhi said, adding that “something similar happened in Mamta Kulkarni’s case as well”. She alleged that meat and alcohol are consumed in the Kinnar Akhada. “Everything is happening under the very nose of Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi, who is aware of the goings-on.”
Sakhi said, “I was beaten after coming to my camp. I am being treated this way because I raised my voice against what is wrong. She (Lakshmi) calls herself a religious leader, but what message is she giving?.” She alleged that Rs 11 lakh are taken to make someone a Mahamandaleshwar. “I will take legal action against Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi. The Kinnar Akhada resorts to hooliganism against anyone who raises their voice against what is wrong,” Sakhi pointed out.
What exactly happened
Earlier, Sakhi had questioned Mamta’s appointment, after which Mamta announced her resignation from the akkhada as Mahamandaleshwar. Later, it was found that Sakhi was attacked in the camp.
A purported video of incident had gone viral, in which a group of men could be seen attacking a camp of Sakhi in Maha Kumbh Nagar on Saturday night. The attackers reportedly tried to take Sakhi hostage and surrounded the camp from all sides. The attackers came in a Fortuner car and caused chaos at the camp, instilling fear among the devotees present. The police quickly responded after being notified, and an investigation has started.
On January 31, Rishi Ajay Das, the founder of Kinnar Akhada, reportedly expelled both Mamta Kulkarni and Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi from the Akhada.
