The MX5 can be considered a cult classic now. It has been 35 years since the first one came out and it has become one of the most highly regarded driver’s car ever made. The ND MX5 is nearing the 10 year mark but honestly, it doesn’t look old and we think that it can keep going for a few more years.
The 35th Anniversary edition will be available in both soft-top and RF hard-top variants. It will feature Artisan Red paintjob which is a deep triple layer paint and we love red paints from Mazda. There are new wheel designs but weirdly the RF gets 17-inch wheels while the soft-top gets 16-inch ones. The soft-top also has a beige top and both the cars have fully beige interiors as well.
There are 35th anniversary logos embroidered on the headrests and the floor mats also. The 35th Anniversary edition is geared more towards comfort and it features standard seats instead of Recaro ones, regular suspension instead of Bilstein ones and regular brakes as well over Brembo ones.
Mazda will number these cars but not limit them to a certain one and rather limit it by time. Shigeki Saito, Miata’s Program Manager said ” We don’t have limited quantity because we want to deliver to everyone who wants it.” This is exactly how you do limited editions.
We love the MX5, it is still one of the best driver’s cars available to buy and there is a huge community behind it which not only loves cars but also loves driving. The MX5 has made a name for itself and over the decades we have seen a ton of MX5’s done up with crazy mods.
