Mathura: A video of Acharya Kaushik Maharaj, a prominent religious preacher from Mathura, has gone viral on social media. The videos shows Kaushik Maharaj performing puja on railway tracks disregarding the safety concerns.
In the video, Kaushik Maharaj is seen conducting jalabhishek (water ritual) to Lord Shiva on the unclean railway tracks.
Kaushik Maharaj sparks outrage
As the video went viral, widespread outrage erupted on social media. Earlier, such callous behaviour was displayed by common man, but scholarly individuals like Kaushik indulging in such attitude is uncalled for.
Acharya Kaushik Maharaj is a prominent Kathavachak (storyteller) in Vrindavan. He is widely respected across India for his sermons and guidance, but is now under scrutiny due to his bizarre behaviour.
Upon seeing the viral video, netizens have called out the Kaushik Maharaj and expressed their outrage, with some even questioning his state of mind. Others have accused Maharaj of indulging in bizarre acts to gain attention.
Water meant to clean trains used for Jalabhishek
It is alleged that Kaushik Maharaj used the water meant to clean train waste, to perform Jalabhishek for Lord Shiva. The unhygienic condition of the location is also evident.
Not only the place was dirty, but performing a religious ritual in the middle of the railway tracks also posed greater risk to life as a train could have passed from the place at any moment.
The incident also raised questions on Railway authorities’ conduct and why they didn’t call police to remove him from the tracks.
When asked about the incident, Ramdev Shastri, a close associate of Acharya Kaushik stated that the video is 2-3 months old. He said the incident happened when Kaushik Maharaj was returning from an event in Jabalpur. Shastri said Kaushik is remorseful about his actions and has apologized on the incident.
