Imphal: A day after Manipur witnessed unrest in several parts of the state after a mob attacked the residence of Chief Minister N Biren Singh, the civil society group of the Meitei in the state have issued a 24-hour-notice to the state government, asking it to take tough actions against armed militant groups.
As the tensions increased, security forces were forced to use tear gas to disperse the angry mob, which had gathered after six missing bodies in the Jiribam district. The bodies of an infant and two women were found, which led to public anger over the incident. They have also accused the state government of a lack of communication and inaction over the incident. All three bodies were recovered from the Barak River in the Jiribam district. They have been missing for last few days, after violent clashes in which 10 Kuki men were reportedly killed in a gunfight with security forces.
