New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has taken a swipe at BJP leaders who took a dip in Ganga during the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj. Addressing a Congress rally in Mhow district of Madhya Pradesh, Kharge took at dig at Union Home Minister Amit Shah and questioned whether taking a dip in Ganga eradicate poverty, provide jobs to unemployed youth and food to needy.
The Congress President said he doesn’t want to hurt anyone’s faith, but children are not going to school and laborers are not getting work in in the country.
Kharge also said that people (BJP leaders) seems to be in diving competition. “They keep diving until they did not get a good TV coverage. We all believe in religion, but we will never tolerate it exploitation of poor in the name of religion,” Kharge said in Mhow rally.
‘Baba Saheb’s aim was equality’
The Congress President invoked BR Ambedkar and said he always stood for equality for all.
“Establishing equality was Babasaheb Ambedkar’s aim and he made many laws to ensure that. He always stood for equal rights. If anyone supported him, it was late PM Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi. Baba Saheb became the President of the Constituent Assembly only after their support. If you want to achieve something in life, then you should work hard in a united way. Till the time you are divided, you will not be allowed to enter the temple,” said Mallikarjun Kharge.
Kharge talks of urination incident in MP’
Kharge also talked about the horrible incident in Madhya Pradesh in which a man urinated in the mouth of a tribal youth.
“When your children get married and ride the horse in the village, you are not allowed that right. You know what happened to that tribal boy, who was humiliated when a man urinated in his mouth. Following that incident, the then MP CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan washed victim’s feet, but washing feet will not do justice. You should have use the protection provided by the constitution else nothing would happen,” he added.
Kharge statement cam after Union Home Minister Amit Shah took a dip in the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj on Monday. Home Minister Amit Shah took a dip in Ganga along with sadhus and other saints. Shah was accompanied by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
