New Delhi: A major plane accident was averted in Delhi after an Indigo Airlines flight collided with the runway just before its take-off. The flight was on its way to Ahmedabad from Delhi. As per officials, the tail part of the plane had collided with the runway.
Sharing more details of the incident, officials said that the flight, IndiGo 6E 6054, also swayed in the air for a few second before hitting the runway. After the incident, the marks of collision can also be seen on the tail part of the plane. The incident reportedly occurred on September 9 this year.
Pilot informed ATC
The pilot of the aircraft informed the Air Traffic Controller about the incident, after which he was asked to return back to the Delhi Airport, due to the safety of the passengers. As soon as the plane returned, all passengers were deplaned to safety.
There was an atmosphere of chaos in the airport following the incident and all rescue operations were alerted by the ATC. The authorities had also ordered an inquiry into the entire matter and all crew members of the flight are being questioned. Separate arrangements were made by the authorities to help passengers reach their destinations. The DGCA has also sent data to Airlines for their assessment. There has been no response from the Airlines on this incident so far.
Another incident
On September 15, another Indigo flight (6E 1303) that was on its way from Mumbai to Qatar’s Doha got delayed due to technical reasons. However, it was canceled. Because of this passengers were forced to face a lot of problems and nearly 250-300 passengers were left stranded at the Mumbai airport. According to passengers, they were made to wait for nearly five hours inside the plane.
