New Delhi: At least ten famous hotels in Lucknow, including names like Marriott, Fortune Park BBD and The Piccadilly, received a bomb threat through an email on Sunday. The sender demanded a ransom of USD 55,000 (approximately Rs 46 lakh), claiming that explosives were concealed in a “black bag on the ground floor.”
Sources indicate that among the hotels targeted were Marriott, Fortune Park BBD, Saraca Hotel, The Piccadilly, Comfort Hotel Vista, Clerk Awadh, Dayal Gateway and Hotel Sylvette.
The threatening email warned that an attempt to defuse the bomb would trigger an explosion if the ransom was not paid. The message also stated, “I want USD 55,000, or I will detonate the explosives, causing blood to spread everywhere. Any attempt to defuse the bomb will result in detonation.” The sender directed the hotels to arrange contact through the email address “shaikha.nasser20077@gmail.com” to coordinate the ransom payment.
Bomb threat to airlines
The incident follows a spate of similar threats made recently against several flights, causing disruptions and inconvenience for airline passengers. Threats issued over social media have prompted authorities to consider amendments to civil aviation safety laws. The proposed changes may include life imprisonment or a permanent ban on flying for people responsible for such threats.
