Hapur: To manage traffic congestion during Mahashivratri, a route diversion has been implemented on NH-9 in Garhmukteshwar, Hapur. This diversion will remain in effect from 12 noon on February 24 to 4 PM on February 27.
During this period, all cuts on NH-9 will remain closed, and no vehicles will be allowed to enter the highway from any link road. Hapur SP Gyananjay Singh instructed the police to strictly enforce the new traffic plan.
Alternate routes for commuters
Authorities have issued a traffic advisory for those traveling on NH-9. Commuters are advised to take the following alternate routes:
- Delhi to Moradabad/Bareilly/Lucknow – Travel via Dasna Eastern Peripheral, Bulandshahr, Narora and Dibai.
- Meerut to Moradabad/Lucknow – Travel via Mawana Road, Meerapur, Barrage and Bijnor.
- Moradabad to Delhi/Ghaziabad – Take the route via Chhajalat Kanth, Dhampur, Nagina, Mawana, Kithore and Tatarpur.
- Gajraula to Delhi/Ghaziabad – Travel via Gajraula Chaupla, Mandi Dhanora and Haldaur.
- Meerut to Bulandshahr/Sambhal/Rampur – Use the route via Kithore, Mudafra, Tatarpur underpass, Babrala and Bahjoi.
- Delhi/Punjab/Rajasthan to Moradabad/Bareilly – Travel from Lal Kuan via Dadri, Narora and Chandausi.
- Ghaziabad to Moradabad – Take the route from Sona Petrol Pump via Bulandshahr, Babrala and Chandausi.
- Travel to Aligarh – Take the route from Sona Petrol Pump via Bulandshahr.
- Aligarh to Dehradun – Travel via Tatarpur Chauraha and Meerut.
Heavy deployment of police for traffic management
Thousands of devotees from Meerut, Delhi, Ghaziabad, and nearby areas will travel to Ganganagari for the Kanwar Yatra during Mahashivratri. To maintain smooth movement, traffic and police personnel will be stationed at Brijghat Ganga Bridge.
SP Gyananjay Singh said that all highway cuts will remain closed, and no vehicles will be allowed to enter NH-9 from any link roads.
