Maharashtra: Man drowns in Savitri river, 2 of his kin die trying to save him

New Delhi: Three members of a family drowned in Savitri river on Sunday. The incident took place in Mahad taluka of Raigad district in Maharashtra. According to the information, the bodies of all the three deceased have been retrieved by the rescue team.

The deceased have been identified as Dilawar Shahabuddin Nalband, Munawar Shahabuddin Nalband and Zahid Zakir Patel. All three are believed to be residents of Mahabaleshwar in Satara district. They had come to visit the Dargah located in a village in Mahad.

One of them had entered the Savitri river to swim but he started drowning. As the other two saw him drowning, they also jumped into the river to save him and unfortunately, all three drowned. The rescue team reached the spot and fished out the bodies of all the three.
