Pune: In good news for Punekars, the authorities have decided to expediate the work for the construction of the flyover at Katraj Chaowk. The project has so far been delayed due to the delay in the completion of the land acquisition of Katraj-Kondhwa road. The delay has caused a lot of traffic congestion in the area.
Pune Municipal Commissioner (PMC) Dr Rajendra Bhosale expects the land acquisition for the flyover to be completed in the next 15 days, Punekar News reported. Around Rs 140 crore is expected to be spent on the project. He has also asked officials to complete and execute the deeds in the next four days.

Notably, the project was originally planned for 50 metres. It was subsequently revised to 84 meters to accommodate the increasing traffic load. The road witnesses the movement of heavy vehicles, which has led to frequent traffic congestion. Union Road Transport and Highways minister Nitin Gadkari also reviewed the progress of this road recently. During the meeting, he asked officials to speed up the work.

Recently, a meeting was held at the office of the Pune Commissioner. officials discussed the issue of the handover of the land. During the meeting, they also discussed the point to ensure that the guarantee letter signed by the Commissioner is provided. During the meeting, one of the landowners, whose land was pending for acquisition for several years, agreed to hand over the meeting.
The PMC has started working towards widening of the Katraj-Kondhwa road in the city to control the traffic congestion. The main section of the road will be developed from Rajas Society in Katraj to Khadi Machine Chowk in Kondhwa area of Pune .
