Raighad: In a tragic incident, five persons were killed, and at least 27 were injured after a private bus carrying passengers lost control and overturned in Raighad district of Maharashtra. The bus was on its way from Lohegaon in the Pune district to Birwadi village, when the the incident occurred.
Among the victims included three women and two men. All the injured have been rushed to the Mangaon Rural Hospital and other medical facilities in Raigad. Among those who lost their lives in the tragedy have been identified as Vandana Jadhav, Sangita Dhananjay Jadhav, Gaurav Ashok Darade, Shilpa Pradeep Pawar, and another unidentified male member who was part of the wedding team of the Jadhav clan.
The driver of the bus allegedly lost control
As per the police, the bus was speeding from Lohegaon to Birwadi. While taking a sharp carve on the highway the driver lost control resulting in the incident. The bus then overturned n on the sloping route, crashed on the road leaving several injured. Locals and others who witnessed the incident then rushed to offer assistance, after which the Mangaon Police was informed. It was after the police reached the spot with rescue teams and medical aid. They also cleared the traffic.
Passengers were left trapped inside the bus
Many of those injured were left trapped inside the bus. They were taken out of the bus by the rescuers and then the injured shifted to hospital. During the rescue operation, the passengers were wearing attires meant for weddings. They were also shocked due to the tragedy and loss of lives of close ones, all on their way for a marriage function.
