Prayagraj: With preparations in full swing for the upcoming Mahakumbh Mela starting next year, the Uttar Pradesh Government is constructing a tent city to accommodate thousands of devotees in Pryagraj. The event will start on January 13 and go on till February 26.
As per News 18, the state government is building a tent city with the aim to accommodate thousands of devotees who will come to the holy city to participate in the event. Authorities are looking to set up over 2,000 Swiss cotton-style tents. As many as six companies are involved in the project, being managed by Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation Limited (UPSTDC).
Six companies are part of the project
Six companies included in the project are – Kumbh Camp India, Aagaman, Kumbh Village, Kumbh Canvas, and Era. The accommodations will be as good as those in five-star hotels. Notably, tents will be available in four types including villa, dormitory, swiss cottage, and maharaja. While this will cost from Rs 1,500 to Rs 35,000, extra non-dormitory tents will cost between Rs 4,000 and Rs 8,000. The size of the tents will range from 480 to 580 square feet for Super Deluxe Tents, 250 to 400 square feet for Deluxe Blocks, and 900 square feet for Villa Tents.
Several facilities to be included in tents
Apart from these, sofas, air conditioners, beds, workstations, geysers, mattresses, WiFi, mosquito nets, and fire extinguishers among other facilities. Other facilities like cultural activities and yoga visits to historical and cultural places in Prayagraj will also be included in the package. While the tents will be opened from January 1 to March 25 next year, pilgrims will be able to make reservations Mahakumbh app or the UPSTDC website.
