New Delhi: Railways on Wednesday clarified that no trains to and from Prayagraj have been cancelled after the stampede at Maha Kumbh due to the unprecedented rush of devotees for the Amrit Snan and instead 360 trains are operating to ferry back devotees from the massive religious gathering.
Currently, around 360 trains are running operated from the stations in Prayagraj with a frequency of every four minutes. This comes after the stampede at the Maha Kumbh in the early hours of Wednesday left around 30 people injured with 20 feared dead.
The only train cancelled until further notice is the Kumbh Special plying from the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Station to Prayagraj.
UP CM speaks to Union Railway Minister
Following the stampede, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath spoke to Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnav to discuss the trains running on the route and urged him to increase the number from the stations Prayagraj as per feasibility.
