Prayagraj: A huge number of devotees are expected to visit Prayagraj on February 26, the last day of the Maha Kumbh, which is also coinciding with Maha Shivratri. Keeping in mind the authorities have taken several steps to prevent any kind of untoward incident.
As per authorities, while traffic movements will be restricted in the Maha Kumbh area from 4 PM on Saturday, the same will be restricted in the entire Prayagraj from 6 pm. The vehicles carrying essential commodities will however be exempted.
Free movements to be granted to government officials
Apart from them, free movement will also be granted to government officials, who include policemen, doctors, and administrative workers. Along with the vehicle restrictions, other important initiatives have also been taken by the authorities. As per the guidelines issued, devotees will be required to take holy baths in ghats that are closest to their entrance points.
It said that devotees who are coming from the Uttari Jhunsi route must take their baths at Harishchandra Ghat and Old GT Ghat. Similarly, devotees coming from the direction of Dakshini Jhunsi way must take a bath at Arail Ghat. Those visiting Prayagraj from Pande Kshetra area will have to take a holy dip at Bharadwaj Ghat, Nagavasuki Ghat, Mori Ghat, Kali Ghat, Ram Ghat, and Hanuman Ghat.
Devotees must abide by guidelines: Officials
“Officials have urged devotees to avoid unnecessary movement and return to their destinations promptly after completing rituals,” the guideline stated. It also urged devotees to abide by guidelines and help in maintaining peace in Prayagraj. Notably, the Maha Kumbh Mela, which comes after every 12 years, began on January 13 and will end on February 26. So far over 63 crore devotees have attended the Maha Kumbh. The number of devotees taking part in the Maha Kumbh has also surpassed the initial assessment of the state government.
