Prayagraj: Preparations for Prayagraj Maha Kumbh are in full swing. The Uttar Pradesh Police has deployed 130 trained horses across the holy city for crowd control and traffic management during the mega event. These horses are of various breeds, including Indian, American, and European. The Mahakumbh starts on January 13 and will continue until February 26.
According to the police, patrolling the crowd on horseback is still the most effective way to control the crowd in busy areas. The parade and the routine visit are part of a special drill for the Maha Kumbh preparations, under which these microchipped horses are being acclimatised to the weather conditions and areas to be patrolled, News 18 reported.
Horses are of finest breeds: Official
As per Prem Babu, Reserve Inspector (RI), Mounted Police, the horses used in patrolling are not ordinary ones but belong to finest breeds. Sharing further details, he added that Dara, wjich is considered as one of the best horses patrolling the event, was born in 2020 in Haryana’s Hisar district Haryana, with an American-bred father. Close to 50 50 American-bred horses, along with Indian-bred like Ahiya and Rankumbha and British-bred horses including Shaheen and Gauri, will be used for over 40-day events.
Northern Railways introducing 98 special trains
In the meantime, the Northern Railways has introduced 98 special trains for the Maha Kumbh Mela. As per officials, the Indian Railways will operate over 10,000 trains, which include 3,300 special trains for Maha Kumbh Mela. Apart from trains, special flights have also been introduced so that pilgrims do not have to face any kind of difficulties and have smooth and memorable experience.
