Prayagraj: Maha Kumbh Mela began in Prayagraj city of Uttar Pradesh early on Monday morning, and will continue till February 26. With over 45 crore devotees expected to be in the city for the mega event, elaborate security and traffic arrangements have been made by the authorities.
While various facilities are in place for the massive gathering which is expected to be the largest in in history for the 45-day event, authorities have arranged proper traffic routes for vehicles coming into the city for the Maha Kumbh.
Authorities issue guidelines regarding traffic during Maha Kumbh Mela
The authorities have issued details regarding the traffic routes in which it said that while the entry route in the Mela will be through Jawaharlal Nehru Mrg, the exit route will be through Triveni Marg. The Akshayavat Darshan will also remain closed to visitors during the major bathing event.
The release added that arrangements have been made for vehicles coming into the city from Varanasi at Jhusi Railway Station, Mahua Bagh Police Station, Nageshwar Temple, Saraswati Parking, Gyan Ganga Ghat, Shiv Mandir Ustapur, and Chatnagar Parking. After parking their vehicles, visitors will have to walk through Chatnagar Road for the mela.
Similarly, vehicles from Lucknow-Pratapgarh direction will have to park their cars in Gangeshwar Mahadev Kachar, Bakshi Bandh Kachar, Nagvasuki, and IERT. Devotees coming through this direction will have to walk through Nawas Ki Marg for the Sangam.
Vehicles entering the city from Ayodhya or Pratapgarh will need to be parked at the Shiv Baba Parking area. Devotees from this area will have to walk via Sangam Lower Marg to enter the Maha Kumbh.
