Pryagraj: In good news for pilgrims visiting Prayagraj for Maha Kumbh, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has announced 14 new routes, for those visiting the holy city for a nearly 40-day event. The mega event which will start from January 13 will continue till February 26. Announcing the development, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said that while the Airport Authority of India (AAI) has approved the new routes, talks are further going on regarding several other routes.
The minister further said that flight services from several cities may commence before the start of Maha Kumbh. “The work on this will be completed by the end of this month. The new terminal of Prayagraj will be inaugurated before January 13. The old terminal is being developed in a new way. Along with this, the passenger capacity is also being increased at the airport,” he added.
‘Complete care taken to ensure pilgrims don’t face inconvenience’
Naidu also noted that complete care is being taken to ensure that the pilgrims coming to Prayagraj during the Maha Kumbh do not face any kind of inconvenience. He also added that the connectivity and number of passengers at Prayagraj airport is also being increased.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Prayagraj to take stock of the preparations for the Maha Kumbh. During the visit, the Prime Minister termed the Maha Kumbh 2025 a “mahayagya of unity” which will help in taking India’s cultural and spiritual identity to new heights. He also inaugurated several developmental projects.
PM Modi inaugurates 167 projects
He inaugurated 167 key development projects worth Rs 5,500 crore, which are aimed at improving the infrastructure of Prayagraj for the mela. The projects also included Sah’AI’yak Chatbot – a platform based on artificial intelligence to streamline communication for devotees.
