Revelation came on August 28 after the Anti-Terrorist Squad and the Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) of the police conducted a raid at the Jamia Habibia madrasa in the Atarsuiya locality of Prayagraj. During the searches, authorities found Rs 1.3 lakh counterfeit currency and a book authored by former Maharashtra IG SM Mushrif comparing RSS to a terrorist organisation.

Fake currency printed in madrasa
During this time, a machine used to print counterfeit notes was found in the madrasa, along with some objectionable books. These books contained derogatory content about RSS, a right-wing outfit. According to the police, the maulvi of the madrasa — Mohammad Tafseerul Arifeen, was using the book to radicalise the children against the RSS.
The books also talked about various terrorist incidents, such as the Malegaon and Samjhauta Express attacks to negatively portray the RSS.
Four arrested
Police have arrested four people in this connection and will soon file an application in the court to seek their remand for further questioning. On Wednesday, a team from the Intelligence Bureau also visited the madrassa and found it was also operating without registration and sealed it. Further investigation is underway to look into the source of funding of Jamia Habibia madrassa.
