Bhopal: Days after a 19-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district, a team of Madhya Pradesh Congress leaders, reached the spot of the incident and sprinkled Gangajal on Monday. They also visited the house of the victim and interacted with her.
Earlier, the party’s state unit president Jitu Patwari formed a team of five women leaders of the Congress. These leaders were asked to collect information regarding the October 21. Targeting the BJP Government in the state, the party also questioned the law and order issue in the state.
‘Step taken as part of protest’
Speaking to IANS,” Kavita Pandey, general secretary of MP Congress, said that the delegation sprinkled the holy water at the place where the victim was allegedly gang-raped. She added that it was part of a protest against the incident. It may be noted that the 19-year-old newly-married woman was reportedly gang-raped by a group of men near a temple when she had gone for a picnic with her husband, NDTV reported. Several young men allegedly between the age group of 19 and 22 years, allegedly raped her and thrashed her husband.
Sharing further details, the police said that all seven accused in the case in the case have been nabbed. As per officials, the accused had gone to take a bath and party in the area. They were also drunk at the time of the incident. A case has been filed under Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) Sections 296, 127(2), 115, 351(3), 70(1), 79, and 3(5).
Another shocking incident in Indore
In another incident, a 40-year-old woman, suffering from mental illness was by a 20-year-old man in Indore. As per the India Today report, the police nabbed the accused later, who spotted the woman walking alone on the pavement, after which he committed the crime.
