New Delhi: Amid incidents of wolf attacks in UP, a jackal attacked six people during the day in Rehti of Sehore district in Madhya Pradesh.
Those who suffered minor injuries were brought to the health center in Rehti. People who were seriously injured were referred to Narmadapuram District Hospital. Deputy Ranger Harish Maheshwari from the Forest Department reached the hospital and immediately provided assistance to the injured.
A video has emerged of the chilling moment when the jackal attacked two men while they were sitting on the roadside in the Sagonia Panchayat in Rehti tehsil. The CCTV footage shows that the duo try to ward off the jackal by hurling stones at it. When the animal tries to attack, one of them grabs the jackal and throws it about 15 feet away. The two injured men are undergoing treatment at the Narmadapuram Hospital.
Authorities in Sehore have appealed to the residents to stay cautious and not to venture out alone. The village panchayat members have asked the villagers to move around in groups. The forest department has also been notified. The injured have been ensured compensation by the foresters.
On Monday, a jackal had attacked five persons in Salkanpur, and left two of them seriously injured.
Fifth wolf captured in Bahraich
Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich, a team of forest department ensnared another wolf on Tuesday. The wolf was part of the pack of six wolves that unleashed terror in the region. The animal was captured near Ghaghara river, where another wolf was caught a few days back.
In the past one and a half months, the wolves have mauled 10 people to death, including nine children. Around 36 people have been left with injuries in wolf attacks in Bahraich.
