Lucknow: The death toll in the Lucknow building collapse has increased to eight after three more bodies were recovered from the debris on Sunday morning. As per officials, around 28 people are injured in the incident. The building that collapsed, was located in the Transport Nagar area. The incident occurred at nearly 5 pm on Saturday
Sharing further details, authorities said that the bodies of Jagrup Singh (35), Rudra Yadav (24), and Raj Kishore (27) during the rescue operations. They also said that the focus is now on seeing that no one else remains trapped in the debris. While the building was constructed around four years, the construction work was going on at the time of the incident. There was a motor workshop, a medical godown, and a warehouse on the ground floor.
Authorities release list of deceased and injured
Authorities have also released a list of those who lost their lives as well as those who were injured in the incident. Among the five deceased whose bodies were also recovered include Dhiraj Gupta (48), Pankaj Tiwary (40), Arun Sonkar (28), Rakesh Lakhan Pal (67), Jaspreet Singh Sahni (41). The injured have been admitted to various hospitals in the city, including Lok Bandhu Hospital.
Speaking to PTI, Akash Singh, who was one of the injured said that the building had developed a crack. “We had come down to the ground floor because it was raining. We noticed that a pillar of the building had developed a crack. Suddenly, the entire building collapsed on us,” he was quoted to have said.
Adityanath orders free treatment
Taking note of the incident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued directions for the free treatment of the injured. BJP metropolitan president Anand Dwivedi reached the spot after learning about the accident. He also assured the injured and their family members of all possible help.
