New Delhi: Preparations are underway in full swing for the Vivah Samaroh (marriage ceremony) of Lord Ram and Sita which is scheduled to be held on Vivah Panchami at Janakpur Dham in Nepal. But before that, for the first time, a Tilakotsav ceremony is also being organised on Novemeber 18 in Ayodhya, before the Vivah Samaroh which will take place on December 5.
As part of the rituals for the Tilakotsav, the tilak-hars will be sent from Janakpur Dham on November 16 and arrive in Ayodhya on November 17. The Tilakotsav ceremony will then take place on November 18.
Janakpur to send 251 tilak-hars for Tilakotsav in Ayodhya
While sharing the details of the event, Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra, said 251 tilak-hars and other 501 type of offering will be sent to Ayodhya from Janakpur.

“For the first time, 251 tilak-hars (those performing the tilak ceremony) from Janakpur Dham, the in-laws’ place of Prabhu Shri Ram, will come to Ayodhya to perform the tilak, bringing with them 501 types of offerings. These offerings will include clothing, jewellery, various sweets, dry fruits, fruits, and other items,” Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra shared on social media platform X.
Preparation underway in Janakpur for Lord Ram, Sita vivah
Meanwhile, preparations are going on in full swing at Janakpur Dham in Nepal for the Vivah Samaroh of Lord Ram and Sita.
“The Barat that is coming to Janakpur on the occasion of Bibah Panchami…After five years we are getting the opportunity to welcome the Barat in Janakpur. Preparations are going on in full swing,” said Ram Roshan Das, Uttaradhikari, Janaki Temple, Janakpur Dham, Nepal.
In the Trta Yuga, Lord Ram, the son of king Dasharath of Ayodhya, married Goddess Sita, the daughter of Janak, the ruler of Janakpur Dham. Their wedding was held in Janakpur Dham, since then it has been a pilgrimage site for Hindus across the world.
