Bengaluru: A techie from Bengaluru celebrated Diwali by running 5 km to create a diya– the traditional earthen pot used to decorate the house during the festival of lights. Funnily, the GPS art reminded netizens of a commode instead of a diya.
Thilak Reddy, originally from Hyderabad, embarked upon a 5 km run between Indiranagar and Kodihalli. The avid runner completed the route, which resembled the shape of a diya, in 34 minutes. He then took to social media to share his achievement. He asked his followers on X to rate his first-ever GPS art. “Happy Deepawali people, tried making a diya over a run, please rate it,” said the man. Netizens were quick to comment on the man’s GPS art.

Unfortunately, some netizens thought the art reassembled a toilet. One person wrote, “It’s actually a commode though. A disproportionate one, but still a commode.” Some told Reddy that he could work towards improving the design. “Looks more like a cigarette being smoked than an actual diya,” said another person.
Netizens also made other observations. One wrote, “This looks more like Docker logo to me.” However, most people unanimously appreciated his creative attempt. Meanwhile, Reddy’s post inspired many of his followers to start running and a few others to complete their ambitious running milestones. They even asked Reddy if they could join him.
