Atishi took over as the Chief Minister of Delhi from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal. Kejriwal resigned as Delhi CM after his release from jail in the excise case. Atishi, the 8th CM of Delhi, is one of the tallest leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party. The youngest leader to hold the top post, Atishi holds 13 key portfolios while serving as chief minister. These include Public Works Department, Power, Education, Higher Education, Law, Finance, Planning, Services, Vigilance, Water, Revenue, Public Relations and Training and Technical Education.
In her first speech after being sworn in as Delhi Chief Minister, Atishi said that it was an emotional moment, adding that the only thing that they have to do now is to bring back Kejriwal to power. The tenure of the Atishi government is set to be brief as Delhi assembly elections are due in February next year.
