Rudrapur: In a surprising turn of events during the Uttarakhand civic elections, a ward member candidate was left deeply shocked after receiving only one vote, which was his own.

In Rudrapur, the counting of votes continued peacefully until late night in 17 municipal bodies of Udham Singh Nagar district. However, in one of the municipal bodies, the candidate contesting for the ward member election could not secure any votes beyond his own. In Nagla Nagar Palika, the candidate, Varun Kumar, received only one vote out of 367 voters, making him the subject of widespread discussion.
One NOTA vote and six invalid votes were recorded
The winning candidate, Devendra Yadav, secured 165 votes, while Gangavati Devi, who came second, received 118 votes. Chirag Sharma, who came third, garnered six votes. Varun Kumar, who came fourth, had to be content with just his own vote. Additionally, one NOTA vote and six invalid votes were recorded.
