New Delhi: West Ham United midfielder Mohammed Kudus, along with his club and Tottenham, have been charged by the Football Association after Saturday’s Premier League match. Kudus was sent off during the Hammers’ 4-1 loss at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for kicking Spurs defender Micky van de Ven.
Kudus was also seen pushing both the Van de Ven and midfielder Pape Matar Sarr during the game. Referee Andy Madley initially showed the Ghana midfielder a yellow card for kicking the Van de Ven before pushing the Dutch defender. After Sarr was also pushed by the 24-year-old, Video Assistant Referee (VAR) Chris Kavanagh urged Madley to review the footage on the screen.

The referee then upgraded his original decision to a red card. However, now the FA has charged Kudos for violent behaviour and not acting in a professional manner after they were sent off for the incident. The two clubs have also been charged for their inability to ensure that their players behaved properly and without causing further provocation.
Both teams of the players gathered around Kudus after the former Ajax player put his side ahead in the 18th minute. If Kudus is found guilty of violating the rules, he will receive an added punishment over the three-game ban that he is already serving for his poor behaviour. For now, the three parties in question will need to respond to the allegations by Thursday.
West Ham are currently 15th in the points table and will next face Manchester United next weekend. After that, they will face Nottingham Forest and Everton, who the Hammers will face without the services of their star player. West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui said that while he hadn’t seen the footage, he trusted the referee’s opinion by giving his midfielder a red card.
