New Delhi: The mother of the 12-year-old girl, who was gangraped in Ayodhya, has alleged that local Samajwadi Party leaders offered her money and coaxed her to take back the complaint against accused Moid Khan, a party functionary.
The mother accused Mohammed Rashid, SP’s Bhadarsa Nagar Panchayat chairperson, of offering her money and asking her to “settle the case”, a India Today report said.
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) state president Vishwanath Pal had also said that the survivor’s mother was being forced to “compromise in the case”. He told news agency PTI, “”A delegation of the BSP met the family of the girl in her village on Saturday. The mother of the girl told the delegation that some people were asking her to make a compromise in the case. We assured her that justice will be done and she should not come under pressure or threat of anyone.”
The mother of the rape survivor alleged Moid Khan was behind the crime, adding “they took her to the fields”. The Uttar Pradesh Police on July 30 arrested bakery owner Moid Khan and his employee Raju Khan from Purakalandar area of Ayodhya district. The police said the two had raped the girl two months ago and also recorded the act. The crime came to light when the girl was detected as pregnant in a medical examination.
The Ayodhya district administration bulldozed Moid Khan’s bakery on Saturday. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said that Khan belonged to the Samajwadi Party and despite his involvement in the rape case, the party had not taken action against him.
SP chief Akhilesh Yadav asked the court to give protection to the Ayodhya rape survivor because the case was sensitive. He also said that the DNA of the two men accused of gangraping the girl should be conducted for delivery of justice.
