New Delhi: Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav on Sunday emphasised the state government’s efforts to create awareness about liquor prohibition. He was addressing a Republic Day function at Nehru Stadium in Indore. Yadav said that the campaign’s success depends on the joint efforts between the government and society.
The chief minister’s address came after the state cabinet decided to ban liquor sales in 17 religious cities and towns in Madhya Pradesh. Yadav credited saints and social organisations for their guidance in implementing the prohibition.
Governor Mangubhai Patel led the Republic Day celebrations in Bhopal by unfurling the national flag at the Lal Parade Ground, while state ministers attended similar events across districts.
Year of Industry and Employment
Yadav highlighted the progress made by the state and declared 2025 as the “Year of Industry and Employment”. He also announced that the state government had received investment proposals worth Rs 4.17 lakh crore through industrial conferences held both domestically and internationally.
He also shared plans to increase government job opportunities, setting a target of 2.5 lakh placements over the next five years. According to the CM, Madhya Pradesh’s per capita income rose to Rs 1.42 lakh.
Talking about the renewable energy production, Yadav said that it grew from 438 MW in 2012 to 7,300 MW in December 2024. He announced a target of achieving 20,000 MW renewable energy production by 2030.
Plans to streamline judicial processes
The chief minister also revealed plans to streamline judicial processes. Arrangements will be made in the next 18 months for prisoners’ appearances and doctors’ testimonies in pending court cases to be conducted via video conferencing, saving time and resources.
Yadav also paid tribute to the architect of the Constitution, Dr B R Ambedkar, who was born in Mhow near Indore. He praised Ambedkar’s contribution to the nation, adding that the Constitution continues to guide citizens in understanding their rights and duties.
