New Delhi: Union Minister for Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, Electronics & Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, has slammed Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg for claiming that many governments worldwide lost elections after COVID-19 pandemic.
Vaishnaw said that India successfully conducted 2024 elections with over 640 million voters and people gave expressed their trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
‘Zuckerberg’s claim factually incorrect’
“As the world’s largest democracy, India conducted the 2024 elections with over 640 million voters. People of India reaffirmed their trust in NDA led by PM Narendra Modi’s leadership. Zuckerberg’s claim that most incumbent governments, including India in 2024 elections, lost post-COVID is factually incorrect,” said the minister in a post on X.
He also said that India provided free food to 800 million people during the pandemic and provided free vaccines to 2.2 billion. Vaishnaw also said that PM Modi’s decisive 3rd-term victory is a testament to good governance and public trust.

“From free food for 800 million, 2.2 billion free vaccines, and aid to nations worldwide during COVID, to leading India as the fastest-growing major economy, PM Modi’s decisive 3rd-term victory is a testament to good governance and public trust,” said Vaishnaw.
The minister also slammed Meta saying it was disappointing to see misinformation from Zuckerberg himself.
“@Meta, it’s disappointing to see misinformation from Mr. Zuckerberg himself. Let’s uphold facts and credibility,” said the minister.
‘Biden pressured Facebook to remove content’
Last Friday, Zuckerberg also said that the outgoing Biden administration coerced his social media platform Facebook to censor content related to Covid vaccines.
Zuckerberg made the damning statement in a podcast Joe Rogan. Mark Zuckerberg claimed that officials from Biden administration called Meta executives and ‘scream’ at them to censor negative content on Facebook regarding coronavirus vaccine.
