New Delhi: Bajrang Punia, India’s prominent wrestler and Congress leader, on Sunday received death threats through WhatsApp messages sent from an international number.
Punia joined Congress on September 6 and was appointed as the working chairman of Kisan Congress. The threats come shortly after his new role within the party.
Bajrang Punia received message from international number
According to reports, Punia received a WhatsApp message on Sunday from a foreign number. The message demanded that he leave Congress, implying that his continued affiliation could lead to dangerous consequences.
In his complaint to the police, Punia said that the message from the unknown caller stated that if he did not exit the Congress party, it would be harmful for both him and his family. The message further threatened that if he refused to comply, the current message would be the last one he receives.
The police have registered a case and started investigation.
