New Delhi: Shah Rukh Khan is known for his witty sense of humour and quick-witted replies to the media. The actor had never failed to make people laugh with his comedic timing. But, fans might have noted that the actor seemed to have toned down his humour in recent times.
In a recent interview, Shah Rukh Khan addressed the topic and explained why he ‘controls’ himself regarding his humour. Here is what the 58-year-old actor said.
Shah Rukh Khan’s take on cancel culture
Shah Rukh Khan was awarded a prestigious award at the Locarno Film Festival. In a conversation with the Locarno Meets podcast, Shah Rukh Khan stated that while he is capable of making people laugh with his sense of humour, he hesitates as his jokes might come off as inappropriate. He added that his team suggested going soft on the jokes as people do not understand his humour.
In times when renowned comedians have faced massive flak for their jokes, according to SRK, it is better to not have a sense of humour these days. He explained that people have become ‘very sensitive’ and that anything he says might disturb an individual. “Comedy is very difficult,” said Shah Rukh Khan.
SRK’s luck with comedy films
Despite the roaring success of the Rohit Shetty directorial Chennai Express, SRK chose not to pick comedy scripts deliberately. In addition to this, the actor also spoke about wanting to explore different genres. After making his mark on the romance genre, SRK hopes to work on horror or comedy movies next. He believes that comedy is a very serious business where most actors, including him, have failed.
With movies such as Pathaan and Jawaan breaking all box office records at the time of their release, the actor has had a great streak in 2023. Next, Shah Rukh Khan is set to star in Sujoy Ghosh’s King alongside Suhana Khan and Abhishek Bachchan.
