New Delhi: Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal visited the family of a man who was stabbed to death in Narayana area of the national capital on Sunday.
On Sunday evening, victim Manoj’s family had blocked the road, and demanded stringent action against the accused while staging a protest, the police said.
Taking to X, Kejriwal held Union Home Minister Amit Shah responsible for the spike in crime in Delhi, pointing out that the BJP hasn’t been able to provide security to Delhiites.

‘Gangster capital of the world’
Earlier on Friday, Kejriwal had raised the issue of law and order during a discussion in the Delhi Assembly. He hit out at the BJP-led Central government over the “deteriorating” law and order situation in the city, claiming that Delhi has been turned into “gangster capital”. During the discussion, the AAP leader blamed Shah for the alleged worsening situation in the national capital.
Kejriwal alleged that shootouts were being carried out blatantly every day. “It feels like gangs are controlling Delhi. Businessmen are living in constant fear of extortion calls, often followed by violent attacks on their shops and showrooms, today Delhi is known as the ‘gangster capital’ of the world.”
In his address, Arvind Kejriwal also raised questions on the unchecked activities of alleged gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is accused of operating extortion rackets. “How is Lawrence Bishnoi managing to run his network so blatantly? Is he being shielded by the BJP?” he asked, calling for swift action from the Central government.
The AAP leader alleged that the Union Home Minister was neglecting the safety of Delhi. “Amit Shah needs to wake up and take responsibility or Delhiites will completely lose trust in the authorities,” he pointed out.
How did the BJP respond
Countering AAP’s attack, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva accused Kejriwal of citing crime statistics in the belief that it would hide his failures and the deaths of 50 people due to waterlogging and electric shocks during the rainy season and loss of several lives in January this year. He said that the AAP leader’s “political image” has been “entirely tarnished”.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police arrested two minors in connection with Manoj’s murder on Sunday. According to the cops, one of them had also a role in the murder of the victim’s brother a few of months ago.
