New Delhi: Days after switching over to the BJP, Delhi councillor returned to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) fold on Thursday, saying he made a mistake and wanted to rectify it. Ramchandra, councillor from ward number 28, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), along with four other councillors of the AAP in the MCD on Sunday.
Ramchandra, in an official statement, said that he realised he took a wrong decision and met with senior leaders of AAP, including former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and MPs Sanjay Singh and Sandeep Pathak. The former MLA from the Bawana Assembly constituency also said that switching side to the BJP was the biggest mistake of his life, and that he wants to return to his family and rectify the error.
‘Arvind Kejriwal came in my dream and rebuked me’
The councillor also said that he returned to the AAP fold after Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal came in his dream and rebuked him for joining the BJP. “Chief Minister (Arvind Kejriwal) came in my dream and chided me, saying Ramchandra get up and go and meet Manish (Sisodia), Gopal Rai, Sandeep (Pathak), and all the leaders,” he said.
Ramchandra also alleged that he joined the BJP after being “misled” by some people. “I will never come under their influence in the future,” he said in the presence of Sisodia and other senior leaders of the party.
AAP councillors switched over to BJP
The AAP Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) councillors who crossed over to the BJP on August 25 included Ramchandra (Ward 28), Pawan Sehrawat (Ward 30), Mamata Pawan (Ward 177), Sugandha Bidhuri (Ward 178) and Manju Nirmal of Ward 180. Following their induction into the BJP, president of the party’s Delhi unit Virendra Sachdeva alleged that the councillors left the Arvind Kejriwal-led party as they were being pressurised to indulge in corruption and gather crowds for AAP leaders.
