Rudraprayag: In a remarkable act of heroism, the youth of Triyuginarayan, a town close to Sonprayag on Kedarnath yatra route, emerged as saviors for travelers who were stranded in the forest. They rescued a total of 13 lives trapped amid rains and landslides after a cloudburst incident occurred on Wednesday night.
Demonstrated courage and compassion in crisis hours
After a natural calamity that occurred on 31 July wreaked havoc along the Kedarnath trek route, spanning from Sonprayag to Lincholi. Pilgrims who were stationed at different points along the route had to flee into the jungle to safeguard their lives. In a commendable effort, the youth of Triyuginarayan conducted a search operation in the remote village of Toshi in Kedarghati, successfully rescuing over a dozen stranded pilgrims.
Local youths joined hand with agencies in rescue operations
When incessant rains proved disastrous in Kedar valley on Wednesday night, local youths along with government agencies played an important role in safely evacuating the pilgrims stranded on the Kedarnath trek route after the disaster. This includes a 15-member team of youths from Triyuginarayan who conducted a search operation in the jungles of Toshi, a remote village in Kedar Valley and succeeded in rescuing more than a dozen pilgrims safely.
15 courageous youths embarked on a rescue mission
On Sunday night, upon receiving information that several people were stranded in the jungles of Toshi village, 15 courageous youths from Triyuginarayan immediately embarked on a rescue mission. Despite lacking resources, they faced a significant obstacle as the swollen Son River blocked their path. Undeterred, the youths threw food packets across the river to sustain the stranded passengers. They also kept encouraging the pilgrims throughout the night that everyone will be evacuated safely soon.
13 passengers were evacuated safely
After Sunday night, the SDRF team reached there on Monday morning. With the help of a rope, every entrapped person crossed the river and the 13 passengers stranded there were rescued safely. One resident of Triyuginarayan and a member of the youth team, informed that they did not have resources, so they had to wait for the SDRF to rescue the passengers safely.
