Dehradun: Ruling BJP is banking on the Modi factor as well as development works in Kedarpuri for its success in the Kedarnath by-poll in Uttarakhand.
With the filing of nomination papers by its nominee Asha Nautiyal, who represented the Kedarnath seat twice in the past, BJP has given final shape to its political strategy for the upcoming Kedarnath by-poll.
Kedarnath by-poll politically significant for the BJP
Since BJP faced defeat in the recent by-polls in two assembly constituencies- Badrinath and Mangalore, Kedarnath by-poll is politically significant for the party. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who was present at the time of filing the nomination papers by the party nominee Asha Nautiyal on Monday, had earlier announced that he would be personally taking care of the Kedarnath assembly seat till a new MLA is elected.
PM Modi’s frequent visit to Kedarnath may become a factor in favour of BJP
BJP may get political benefits from the frequent visits of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to offer prayers at Kedarnath temple. PM Modi’s immense faith in Kedarnath shrine is an open secret in view of his personal monitoring of the ongoing reconstruction works in Kedarpuri. The reconstruction works in Kedarpuri, which had faced a major disaster in 2013, continues to remain at the top priority of PM Modi. The work on Kedarnath ropeway is still undergoing. BJP is set to highlight the development projects meant for the Kedrapuri during its campaign for the Kedarnath by-poll.
BJP activated its booth units and Panna Pramukh
Meanwhile, CM Dhami recently made 39 announcements for the development of the Kedarnath assembly seat. BJP’s strategy is to woo voters of Kedarnath in the name of development. The party has also activated all booth units to connect the party organization with the voters of Kedarnath by-poll. Panna Pramukhs, who play a crucial role in the implementation of BJP’s political strategies during the elections, have been deployed in their areas concerned. It is expected that the top leaders of the BJP’s state unit, including CM Dhami, may start coming to Kedarnath area after the end of Deepawali festival.
Kedarnath by-poll is necessitated due to the death of Shaila Rani Rawat, who was elected to the state assembly from Kedarnath in the 2022 assembly polls.
