The Kawasaki Z900 is one of the more popular super-naked motorcycles. It offers incredible value and Kawasaki has updated the motorcycle for the 2025 model year with a few design changes, some new features and made it comply to the Euro 5+ norms which are mandated in Europe.
Lets start with the styling first. Subtle changes have been made to the exterior. There are new LED headlights and taillights which are more aggressive and more in line with Kawasaki’s newer motorcycles. The bodywork has also been changed ever-so slightly to offer more aggression. There are brushed metal parts which feature the “Z” logo as well.
The bigger change is that it now gets a ride-by-wire throttle which means that it now gets power modes- Full and Low, cruise control functionality, and 3 traction modes. Kawasaki has also included a bi-directional quick-shifter.
Mechanically the bike remains mostly unchanged. The weight has gone up by 1 kg, which means it now weighs 213 kgs and the SE version weighs 214 kgs. The engine is the same 948cc inline-four cylinder liquid-cooled unit which produces 123 bhp at 9,500 rpms and 97.4 Nm of torque at 7,700 rpms. This is 2 bhp and 1.2 Nm of torque lesser than before owing to the compliance with the Euro 5+ emission norms.
Kawasaki has given other changes to the bike as well. The seat height is now higher by 10 mm and stands at 830 mm now. It gets new 4-piston NISSIN radially mounted calipers up front and the tyres have also been upgraded to Dunlop Sportmax Q5A. The SE variant still remains the same and gets 41 mm KYB forks up front and a Ohlins mono-shock at the rear and the brakes are Brembo M4.32 units.
Kawasaki will also be offering the Z900 in a new colour which will feature red accents, something that is rare on Kawasaki motorcycles as they usually sport a green livery.
The updated Z900 will most likely come to the Indian market next year and we also expect it to cost a little bit more than the previous version owing to the new changes. The current z900 comes in at Rs 9.38 lakh (ex-showroom).
