Srinagar: Baramulla MP Rashid Engineer arrived in Srinagar on Thursday after being released from Tihar jail in Delhi.
His release came after Delhi’s Special NIA court granted him interim bail in a case related to terror funding.
What Rashid Engineer said
Upon his arrival in Srinagar, Rashid Engineer made a strong statement regarding his views on recent political developments. He said, “I want to give a message to the Kashmir and Kashmiris that we are not weak. The people of Kashmir will win.”

He said, “The decision taken by PM Modi on August 5, 2019, is not at all acceptable to us. Send Engineer Rashid to jail or wherever you want, but we are sure that we will win.”
Engineer Rashid is scheduled to address his first public contact program in Baramulla on Thursday. During this event, he is expected to outline his vision and future plans for the region.
What’s the case against Rashid Engineer
The Baramulla MP was arrested in 2019 by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in connection with a terror funding case dating back to 2017. He had been held in Tihar jail since his arrest. The court granted Rashid Engineer interim bail till October 2. The bail allows him to participate in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.
