Mysuru: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) office and Mysore Taluk office on Friday to inspect the documents linked to the alleged land scam. A case was earlier filed against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and wife Parvathi in the matter.
The court had filed a case against the CM and his wife after an FIR was registered by Lokyukta over the matter. The complaint was filed by the RTI activist Snehamayi Krishna after which action was taken against Siddaramaiah.
What is the MUDA case?
Under this case in 1992, MUDA had acquired land from farmers to develop residential areas. Under the development authority’s MUDA’s incentive 50:50 incentive scheme, owners of the land were given 50 percent site for the developed land or another site alternative to it.
It is accused of allocating 14 sites in a posh area of Mysuru to Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvati in 2022 in return for her 3.16 acres of land in Kasare village in Kasaba Hobli, Mysuru. The price of these sites was much higher than Parvati’s land.
Notably, Parvati did not have any legal right over this 3.16 acres of land. This land was gifted to her by Parvati’s brother Mallikarjuna in 2010. MUDA had developed the Devnur Stage 3 layout without acquiring this land.
Parvathi offered to return 14 plots
Last Month, Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvathi returned the 14 plots of land that were allotted to her by MUDA. In a letter written to the development authority, the CM’s wife informed of her decision to return these plots and cancel the deeds in her name.
