New Delhi: Some leaders of BJP’s Karnataka unit arrived in Delhi on Monday, seeking direct intervention from party national president J P Nadda to remove state unit chief B Y Vijayendra’. The delegation is led by MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi. Among others who have also arrived along with him include ex-Mls Kumar Bangarappa and Shrimant Patil.
The delegation plans to stay in Delhi for two days and meet Nadda on the issue. As per the news agency PTI, other leaders like Basangouda Patil Yatna and B P Harish may join the delegation on Tuesday. The rebel leaders have accused Vijayendra of being an ‘ineffective’ state unit president.
Rebel BJP leaders accuse Bijayendra of ‘adjustment politics’
They have accused him of doing ‘adjustment politics’ and ‘inability’ to mount aggression against the Congress Government in the state. The rebels have also hinted at fielding a candidate against Vijayendra in case their demands are not met. Recently, Nadda met with party leader Limbavali which boosted their confidence.
Rebel leaders tried to meet Nadda earlier too
Before arriving in Delhi, rebel BJP leaders also visited Chamundeshwari temple in Mysuru. The rebels had unsuccessfully tried to meet Nadda, but this time they are hopeful even as the Budget session of the Parliament is currently going on.
“We are going to Delhi tomorrow, to tell (party leadership) about Yediyurappa and his son’s deeds. Do you (party) want a corrupt family or honest and loyal party workers? The nepotism in the BJP should end. The leadership should be given into the hands of those who follow Hindutva, taking it away from a corrupt family,” news agency PTI quoted Yatnal as saying yesterday.
Vijayendra was made BJP’s state unit president last November
Notably, Vijayendra was made the state unit president in November 2023. His appointment as state unit president led to disappointment among several party leaders, who expressed their concerns about his leadership.
