Bengaluru: A fresh controversy has erupted over the latest allocation of funds by the Karnataka Government. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA CK Ramamurthy has accused the state government of improper allocation of development funds in the state. The Karnataka Government earlier allocated Rs 10 crore to 26 Assembly constituencies for the repair of roads and other infrastructure under the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
As per reports, while the Anekal constituency received Rs 5 crore, Jayanagar, represented by Ramamurthy was left out, leading to a political storm in the state. Expressing his anger over the incident, Ramamurthy claimed that Jayanagar’s exclusion was not an oversight, but a political vendetta as he has constantly spoken against the state government.
DK Shivakumar denies discrimination charges
However, denying allegations of discrimination, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said that a revised order will be issued soon. He added that the new order would be issued with corrections, just as the Yelahanka constituency was added twice to the list.
In the meantime, speaking to TV9 Network, MLA Ramamurthy pointed out that there are a lot of civic problems in his area, due to which he questioned the idea of Brand Bengaluru. He added that ‘discrimination’ with developmental funds is not the way to and added that he will take up the matter with the Chief Minister and Deputy CM if funds continue to be denied.
Demolishing of the unauthorised buildings in Bengaluru
Earlier on Saturday, Shivakumar had announced that the drive to demolish the unauthorised buildings in Bengaluru is ongoing. Slamming the previous BJP Government, he also said that it had “reduced the “power of officials to act against unauthorised construction in the state.
