Jyotiraditya Scindia meets Gadkari for approval of Rs 1040 cr projects in Gwalior-Chambal region

New Delhi: Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia, a tireless advocate for his Gwalior-Chambal region, has embarked on a mission to bring development to his constituency. In a meeting with Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday, Scindia presented a comprehensive plan for road infrastructure upgrades worth Rs 1040 crore.


Scindia’s advocacy stems from his recent visit to his Lok Sabha constituency, where he met with officials and community leaders to understand their needs. Armed with this firsthand knowledge, he presented a detailed roadmap for development, focusing on road and infrastructure projects to boost economic activity and enhance the region’s overall quality of life.

The meeting with Gadkari lasted over an hour and brought together BJP MLAs, former MLAs, district presidents and officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Scindia presented a detailed list of proposed projects, spanning the three districts of Ashok Nagar, Guna and Shivpuri of his constituency. The new demands of the MLAs and the district president were also heard Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has also given verbal approval to many projects immediately.

Among the key projects highlighted were the construction of a ring road in Guna at the cost of 145 crores, the widening of the Anrad to Nihal Devi Marg at the cost of 50 crores, and the development of a single road in Shivpuri connecting Kolaras to Nainagir. Scindia also pushed for the construction of a flyover in Guna and the expansion of the Gwalior-Agra Expressway to six lanes.

Also, the development projects of Ashoknagar District, Ashok Nagar Ring Road (37 km 276 crore), Chanderi-Nai Sarai to Badarwas Wahaya Akhai Ghat road (22.5 km, 57 km) and Mungaoli – Ashok Nagar Vidisha Road (47.6 km 97 crore) were discussed in the meeting.

For Shivpuri District Scindia requested Gadkari to make a single road from Mada Ganeshkheda Rannod Road of Kolaras to Nenagir via Singharai Amhra Indar Khataura Bijroni Badarwas Barai Agra Dhuna – Nainagir to two lane (7m) wide road (circular road) (70 km at the cost  Rs 140 crore). Among other projects were the construction of a four-lane ring road (14 km, Rs 65 crore) and Bhitargawan to Nayagaon via Kamalpur Manguli – Padra – Mudra Surajpur – Amarpur – Lalan- Khikhit – Khisloni Khiria Nayagaon. (55 Km, Rs 110 Cr).

Scindia also demanded an additional flyover at Fatehgarh Tiraha for Guna, which will be constructed at a total cost of Rs 25 crore. He has previously met with Ashwani Vaishnaw, the Union Minister for Railways, to secure railway improvements and the establishment of a Center of Excellence in Gwalior.
