New Delhi: Delhi High Court Chief Justice Manmohan is scheduled to take oath as a judge of the Supreme Court on December 5 after his elevation to the top court was notified by the Centre on December 3.
The outgoing chief justice on Wednesday said in his farewell speech, held at a courtroom in the High Court packed with lawyers, former judges, his own family members to bid him farewell, that the experiences and learnings of the High Court shall continue to guide him in the journey that lies ahead.

The emotional outgoing Chief Justice said, “As I proceed to the Supreme Court, I can confidently say that this court shall always hold a special place in my life. The experiences and learnings of this court shall continue to guide me in the journey that lies ahead.”
Has always tried to ensure that public faith in judicial system is increased: Justice Manmohan
Justice Manmohan said that justice has been and continues to be a constant endeavor and while serving on the bench, he has always tried to ensure that public faith in the judicial system is increased.
“After all, the real efficacy and credibility of a judicial system is measured by the public faith that it enjoys. I cannot say whether I have succeeded in achieving the same and honestly that judgment never lies with the judge, but I can say with certainty that I have felt a great sense of satisfaction in serving the cause of justice to the best of my ability,” Justice Manmohan said while speaking at his farewell reference.
Centre on December 3 notified elevation of Justice Manmohan to apex court
The Centre on December 3 notified the elevation of Justice Manmohan to the apex court following November 28 recommendation of the Supreme Court collegium to the Centre to appoint Justice Manmohan as a judge of the top court.
Justice Manmohan was appointed as additional judge of Delhi High Court in 2008
Justice Manmohan, who is the son of bureaucrat-turned politician late Jagmohan, was appointed as an additional Judge of the Delhi High Court on March 13, 2008 and he was made a permanent judge on December 17, 2009. He has been functioning as the Delhi High Court Chief Justice since September 29, 2024. He was earlier appointed as the Delhi High Court’s acting chief justice on November 9, 2023.
