Ranchi: Former Jharkhand CM and a close aide of Hemant Soren, took an early morning flight to Delhi on Sunday. Speculations are rife that he may crossover to the BJP. However when asked about reasons for his Delhi visit, he said that he was here for some “personal work.”
Champai Soren meets BJP’s Suvendhu Adhikari
A day earlier Soren was in Kolkata, where he reportedly met BJP leader Suvendhu Adhikari, according to media reports. He was staying at a hotel in the city. According to a report in the India Today, he is exploring his political options after being removed from the Chief Minister’s position, following the release of JMM leader Hemant Soren.
Rumours are rife that he is in Delhi to meet the BJP’s top brass. However Soren has dismissed all such talks. Speaking to reporters at the New Delhi Airport, he said, “I have not met anyone. I have come here for personal work.” He further said, “Abhi hum jahan par hain, wahi par hain.” (I am at the same place where I was).
Soren is accompanied by 6 MLAs from Jharkhand and his personal staff. His visit definitely fuels talk of a political realignment. Sources also said that the JMM leader was in touch with BJP leader and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. However there is no official confirmation about this so far.
Refuting the rumours Soren had said on Saturday, “I don’t know what rumours are being spread. I don’t know what news is being run, so I cannot tell whether it’s true or not. I don’t know anything about it.”
Champai Soren is currently the water resources Minister of Jharkhand. He was appointed the CM of the state (Jharkhand) after Hemant Soren was sent to jail in a corruption case. However after the return of Hemant Soren, he was unceremoniously removed from his position. This is said to have upset him and that’s why he is planning to cross over to the BJP.
