JMM flags, posters go missing from ex-Jharkhand CM Champai Soren’s residence amid BJP switch buzz

New Delhi: Amid widespread speculation about former Jharkhand chief minister and JMM leader Champai Soren possibly joining the BJP, JMM flags and posters have reportedly vanished from Soren’s residence in Jillingora and his government bungalow in Ranchi, according to a report by the Times of India. He is currently in Delhi.

Soren also updated his bio on ‘X’, removing references to his JMM affiliation and ministerial roles, now describing himself solely as the former chief minister of Jharkhand.

‘Forced to resign as CM’

In a couple of posts on ‘X’, he stated that the current phase of his career began after he was “forced to resign as CM.”

“After watching the news today, many questions must be arising in your mind. What happened that brought the son of a poor farmer living in a small village of Kolhan to this turning point? From the day of my resignation as CM till today, and till the upcoming Jharkhand assembly election, all options are open for me in this journey,” his post on ‘X’ read.

‘Humiliated as CM, programmes were cancelled’

He further said that as a CM, his programmes were cancelled by someone else, asking the people if there can be anything more humiliating in a democracy than this.

“Can there be anything more humiliating in a democracy than this incident in which a CM’s programmes are cancelled by someone else? Despite swallowing this bitter insult, I said that the appointment letter distribution is scheduled in the morning while the legislature party meeting will be in the afternoon. So, I said I would join both events but I was flatly refused. For the first time in my spotless political journey in the last four decades, I was broken from within,” he added further.

‘Blow to my self-respect’

Champai went on to say that when Hemant Soren was released on bail, he was made to step down in a meeting. He alleged that despite the head of the legislature party, he was told about the agenda of the meeting.

“I was surprised but I had no desire for power so I immediately resigned, but I was emotional due to the blow to my self-respect. I felt as if I had no existence in the party, no existence at all, to which I had dedicated my entire life,” his post further read.
