New Delhi: Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has lost the top spot in the latest ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings released on Wednesday. Bumrah lost the No.1 ranking to South Africa pacer Kagiso Rabada who claimed the top ranking on the back of a strong display for SA during the ongoing World Test Championship. The right-arm quick bagged his 300th Test wicket during the recent seven-wicket win over Bangladesh in the first Test in Mirpur.
Bumrah paid the price for going wicketless in the second Test against New Zealand in Pune. He has dropped two places to third, behind Rabada and Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood, who rose to second.
Meanwhile, ace Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has also slipped two places to be fourth ahead of Australia skipper Pat Cummins who rounds up the top five places in the bowling chart.
Noman Ali reaps the reward for Rawalpindi’s heroics
Pakistan spinner Noman Ali has sensationally moved inside the top 10 after his bowling heroics in the recent third and final Tests against England in Rawalpindi. The left-arm spinner picked a whopping 20 wickets in two Tests after earning a surprise call-up
Meanwhile, New Zealand’s hero from the incredible Pune Test win against India, Mitchell Santner moved up an eyewatering 30 runs in the latest rankings. Santner, who picked up 13 wickets in the Pune Test, achieved a career-high rating and reached 44th in the latest list for Test bowlers.
Jaiswal rises to 3rd
India’s young batting superstar Yashasvi Jaiswal moved up a place to third, following scores of 30 and 77 in Pune and continues to be the top-ranked batter for India in the red-ball format.
However, Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli have slipped in the batting rankings, dropping five spots to 11th, and six places to 14th.
Kiwi trio Devon Conway (up 8 spots to 28th), Tom Latham (up 6 spots to 34th) and Glenn Phillips (up 16 spots to 45th) and South Africa’s Kyle Verreynne (up 14 spots to 32nd) have made significant gains.
India’s Ravindra Jadeja (No.1) and Ashwin (No.2) maintain a healthy lead at the top of the rankings for Test all-rounders. Bangladesh ace Mehidy Hasan has gained two spots to move to third following key all-round contributions against South Africa.
