New Delhi: The Jangpura Assembly seat in southeast Delhi is a crucial seat. Manish Sisodia, who is presently an MLA from Patparganj, is contesting against BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah and Farhad Suri of the Congress in this constituency. Sisodia has represented Patparganj since 2015. However, he shifted to Jangpura as UPSC educator Avadh Ojha was fielded by AAP from there.
After vote counting started at 8am, initially, Sisodia trailed behind BJP’s Marwah and Congress’s Suri. However, the AAP leader took lead, according to early poll trends. He is leading by 26,86 votes over his BJP rival Tarvinder Singh Marwah, after two rounds of counting.
Sisodia was behind bars for 17 months in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case. The stakes are high for Sisodia.
It is a high-octane contest between AAP and BJP for the 70 Delhi assembly seats. The voting for the elections was conducted on February 5.
